MOTORCYCLES
A total of 126,420 Motorcycles have been sold during the current
month - an estimated market share of 28.4%, as against 25.2% in
September 2003.
The Bajaj CT-100 continued to maintain its market leadership in
the entry-level segment; Bajaj sales herein were 83,656 units in
September 2004. Capacity expansion to 4,000 per day is underway to
overcome the approximately 2 week long waiting period.
In the premium segment, the Pulsar twins recorded a sale of 22,208
in September 2004.
During the current month, with sales of almost 14,000 units, the
Bajaj Discover has been launched in select States. With planned
production ramp up over October and November, the Bajaj Discover
will be available nationally by November 2004.
Bajaj Auto's Y-o-Y growth during H1 / 2004-05 in the motorcycle
segment stood at 24.8% - much higher than the industry growth rate
of approximately 15.8%.
THREE WHEELERS
Sales of 3 Wheelers during the month was 23,182 numbers - growth
of 11%.
EXPORTS
Exports for the month was 17,138 numbers as against 12,495 numbers
in September 2003.
With exports of 96,013 units and a growth of 38% for April -
September 04, Bajaj continues to be India's top exporter of
motorcycles, 2-wheelers and 3 wheelers.
