September Sales Performance

Reflecting overwhelming acceptance of its new products and high effectiveness of its marketing & sales initiatives, Bajaj motorcycles raced ahead to 271,377 units in Sept 2006, a growth of 50% over 180,926 units of Sept 2005.
 
Bajaj motorcycle market share (estimated) scaled a new high of 37.9%.
 
Total 2 and 3 wheeler sales for September 2006 were at a record 300,141 units; a growth of 38% over 218,012 units of September 2005, and included –
 
  1. 121,521 units of high end motorcycles discover, pulsar and avenger – constituting 45% of motorcycle sales;
   
  2. 27,870 units of 3-wheelers, a growth of 21% over 23,118 units of September 2005;
   
  3. 37,088 units exported, a growth of 58% over 23,463 units of September 2005
     
  The above healthy product mix will have a positive impact on profitability.
