Bajaj motorcycles continued to grow ahead of industry and
thus gain market share.
2. |
With increasingly strong sales of Bajaj Discover and Bajaj
Pulsar DTS-i platform products only 45% of Bajaj
motorcycle sales now come from the relatively lower margin
100cc segment.
3. |
In order to exit this segment Bajaj intends to introduce
an all new motorcycle platform in FY08Q2. Towards this
end, Bajaj has now finalized product design and
specification, and has scheduled pre-mass production
trials in FY08Q1.
4. |
Simultaneously Bajaj will commence motorcycle production
at its new Plant at Pantnagar in Uttarakhand on 9th April
2007, intending to ramp up to the rate of 1 million per
year within FY08.
5. |
These two initiatives, complemented by the continuing
higher than expected sales in 3-wheelers and in exports
should stabilize if not enhance profitability in FY08.
